Deputy Foreign Minister Kjetil Skogrand in Belgrade

05/05/2006 :: Deputy Minister Skogrand completed on Thursday May 4th a two day visit to Belgrade. At the top of the Deputy Minister‘s agenda was defence reform, security-sector issues and judicial reform. The main event was the signing of the Nato Trust Fund on project assistance to redundant military personnel in Serbia and Montenegro. Link to Skogrand's statement.  The Deputy Minister met with Defence Minister Stankovic and, the newly resigned, former Deputy Prime Minister Labus. Skogrand underlined that Norway remains commited to supporting reforms and hoped that Serbia would be able to meet the political conditions – including full cooperation with ICTY – so that the integration into Euro-Atlantic structures can continue at full speed. 
Norway‘s total transition assistance to Serbia and Montenegro in 2006 amounts to approximately 38 million euros. Norwegian assistance is focused on support to reform initiatives and institution-building. One important goal is to contribute to greater compatibility of Serbian institutions and regulations with European norms and standards
